Also, it seems that if I say, rename a particular folder and then try to sync with
lakectl local commit
, it will try to remove and upload everything again. Is there anyway to tell lakefs that I'm simply doing a rename?
b
A local directory rename is seen as "delete + add" on paths, so
lakectl local commit
will remove the old paths and upload the new ones. There isn't a
lakectl mv
that performs a server-side rename today. If you need to avoid re-uploading from the client, do the move on the server side (e.g., copy to the new path using the S3 API against lakeFS, then delete the old path) and refresh locally. (Related: discussion on renaming directories).

Thanks! That's useful.
