Is it possible to integrate LakeFS with active directory for RBAC?
a
Hi Gary, Welcome to the lake! Yes, it's an existing SSO option. That's on lakeFS Cloud and lakeFS Enterprise. One of those is needed for RBAC, anyway.

So groups, users and their permissions are managed inside LakeFS?
a
Yes, currently we get authentication from AD but not authorization. I don't know enough about AAD auth to know how similar it is to the lakeFS auth model. lakeFS is a lot like IAM.

Thanks Ariel! Just to confirm, if you use the free version then SSO isn't an option and usernames and passwords are stored in local DB on LakeFS?
a
OSS does not support SSO; this announcement by our founders clarifies it and links to our commitment to open source. But it doesn't have to be local! OSS lakeFS stores users on whatever database you've configured. It can be local, but a production installation would probably use PostgreSQL, DynamoDB or CosmosDB. (Of course all of these are available in OSS!)
