We’re seeing an interesting discussion around data modeling, especially what “modern” data modeling and architectures mean to us today. – also an increasing number of jobs for “data modelers” for example, in areas like healthcare, where data modelers are tasked to model the data to identify patients' best treatments. But, what is it all about? 🤔 In a LinkedIn post, Paul Johnson remarked that
“the Modern Data Stack crowd seem to think they invented everything from scratch and that there can't be anything to be learned from beyond about 5 years ago.”
He also said that:
“sadly, for the entire 1990s and 2000s, the MS camp were encouraged to believe that "data warehousing = dimensional modeling." 😅
I am curious to see if we are in the midst of creating such a profession.
