hey, we have hit minio's minimum free space threshold with a major upload. Looks like deletion from this position w/ lakefs is not easy. Is there a recommended way to delete some items?
the main question being: will lakefs panic if the objects aren't there, or are the wrong size? I can probably replace them with zero size placeholders

Hi @Chris, lakeFS will not panic on missing objects in object store. I think the biggest challenge here is to understand what you want to delete. lakeFS already solves this via the GrabageCollection process which helps lakeFS users cleanup their underlying storage based on object retention rules. Another route you can take is list the objects you want to remove and fetch the physical address from the listing result and deleting them yourself

ok, so if I delete them from their physical address, I won't destabilize lakefs? Should I replace them with a zero size, equivalently named item, and then delete them in the normal manner via
lakefs
?

You can just delete them
